Toilet Roll Bird Feeders
Making a toilet paper roll bird feeder is a great activity for kids of all ages.
This toilet paper roll bird feeder is a simple and fun activity for the children to do that will help our feathered friends. The craft is perfect for kids of any age to make at home.
Things you will need:
- Toilet Roll Tube
- 2 Tablespoons of Flour
- 2 Tablespoons of Water
- Bird Seed - if you don’t have birdseed then you can use Cheerios or Rice Krispies
- Thick String
- Teaspoon
- A Plate
Here’s what you have to do:
Step One:
With the toilet roll tube standing on it’s end, punch 2 holes opposite each other about an inch from the top. We just poked a pencil through to make the holes but you could use a hole punch if you have one.
Step Two
Mix together the flour and the water to make a gloop paste.
Step Three
With a teaspoon, spread a thick layer of the gloop paste onto the toilet roll tube, avoiding the holes.
Step Four
Pour the bird seed onto the plate (we used a cat litter tray from Poundland) and spread out evenly.
Step Five
Gently roll the toilet roll tube around in the seeds so that they stick to the gloop. Make sure all the gloop is covered.
Step Six
Let it dry.
Step Seven
Run string through the holes and tie the two ends together at the top. If you’ve covered the holes with gloop and seeds then just repoke through.
Step Eight
Hang your bird feeder up outside for the birds to enjoy.
