Lower Clopton Farm Shop Lambing
A walk around the lambing sheds seeing all the newborn lambs with their mothers
Today we've had a lovely afternoon in the 'almost' Spring sunshine at Lower Clopton Farm Shop for their annual Lambing event.
Their lambing days are only on today and tomorrow (25th and 26th February) so if you want to visit then tomorrow is your only day.
After a quick play on the tractor (children are allowed to play on it as long as they're supervised at all times) we headed in to the barn to pay our admission.
Entrance is £3 each (children under 1 are free). Both cash and card is accepted.
There were pens full of baby lambs who were around a week old. There were people from the farm around to answer any questions we had and it gave children and families the opportunity to learn a little more about lambing. We also got a stroke a lamb.
There were lots of posters up explaining what each area was so it was a great learning experience for us all.
It's a one way route round that takes you past all the different pens and brings you out by the cafe. It wasn't very busy today so we had plenty of time in all the different areas.
We were blessed with a sunny day and although it was cold we sat outside at the cafe so that the children could enjoy the small outdoor play area. The cafe is really lovely and has amazing freshly baked cakes.
The event really gives you an insight into the life of a farmer in lambing season. The experience is the real deal and is in no way commercial which is so lovely. It is a working farm that opens up to the public for one weekend a year for lambing.
